    I have found Pilates to be highly effective in my fitness regimen. The focus on strengthening and using my core has improved all my other forms of exercise. I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps, much of it as a platoon leader. Marines are known for being physically fit, and their days include a variety of exercise from calisthenics and weight training, to running and martial arts. Had I known then what I do now about the effectiveness of Pilates, the Marines in my charge would have been using it regularly.

    I have been attending Annebé’s classes for two years. I like cycling my road bike and that combined with sitting in the office was giving me tight hamstrings and lower back ache. Several different therapies later I discovered Annebé’s classes which, attended weekly, are keeping my core strong and have cured the above postural aches I was getting. Finding the right management is important but finding something fun that you will keep doing is just as important. Annebé has an amazing depth of knowledge about Pilates, posture, anatomy, and specific injuries. But above all she is excellent with groups and makes the classes fun, so much so that my wife had to join as well.

    When I started Annebe’s classes 16 months ago I was suffering with an auto immune disorder which was attacking my joints and muscle tissue resulting in very restricted mobility.     Even though I was young and fit I used to suffer from a weak and very achy lower back. It wasn't until a few months after starting Pilates that I noticed I didn't have the pain anymore.     I've been attending Annebe's Pilates class once a week for several years now and I'm addicted! This year I began the Zumba class as an additional workout on Monday night at North Narrabeen Surf Club and the combination of Zumba and Pilates is fabulous - just what my body needs. The two classes a week gives me a really good balance of fitness along with some laughs. Doing Zumba in the summer overlooking the beach is quite special and afterwards a quick dip is the answer to cool off after a fair amount of perspiring. Last week the full moon was rising over the water whilst we were Zumba-ing away to groovy music - all too lovely. Annebe puts a lot of effort into varying both the Pilates and Zumba classes and I never get bored or assume I know what's coming next. Thanks Annebe!!

    I am sitting in Europe writing this. One of the things I miss the most when I am travelling is Annebe's Pilates classes. They really do make you feel good and strong. Since I started doing Pilates a few years ago, I have had much less problems with my back. I am now an "addict" doing three classes a week when I can.

    The classes are small enough for Annebe to give personal attention, and they are also fun and have a happy atmosphere.

    I have been attending one or two classes a week with Annebe for the last 3 1/2 years. I started the classes when my then youngest was 1 year old and I was experiencing some back pain. The classes are fantastic. Annebe has the ability to make sure that every single person in the class is carrying out the exercises correctly, at the same time creating a very friendly and happy atmosphere among the group. I continued doing the Pilates through 2 more pregnancies safely and confidently using specific pregnancy modifications which Annebe taught me. I continued with the Pilates classes up to the day before giving birth. I am convinced that Pilates with Annebe is the key to my back not hurting, my pelvic floor remaining very healthy and also to returning to pre-pregnancy strength and shape fairly quickly.

    Before attending Annebe’s Pilates classes, I could not stick at a particular exercise program, now I love attending ball and mat Pilates classes twice weekly.

    My posture is the best it has been, which I didn’t think would be possible in my 40’s. This has resulted in less back and neck problems. As well as building physical strength and flexibility, we enjoy lots of laughs and friendship due to Annebe’s wonderful caring and inclusive teaching style.

    I have been attending Annebe's Zumba class since its inception. I was worried that for someone who can't dance to save myself I would be way out of my comfort zone. I was also worried that my ageing body parts would be sorely tested (excuse the pun!) Nothing could be further from the truth… The choreography caters to all levels of fitness and coordination. I can't wait for my class first thing Monday morning to put a smile on my face as well as a healthy, sweaty sheen!     Even when I only attend once a week I can really feel the difference in my body and my posture, and can see the difference around my midriff. I have not had lower back problems since attending Pilates classes. My chosen sport is yachting which requires quite a lot of strength and balance – Pilates assists in both.

    Annebé is very strict but lots of fun. The people in the classes are very friendly and everyone chats pleasantly before and after the class. She always remembers individual class members’ injuries and modifies their exercises. She is always happy to explain any exercise and corrects your technique promptly.

    I came to Annebe’s Pilates with many aches & pains, compliments of a great deal of house painting & renovation. I'm a 57 year old woman who was lacking in some reasonable exercise and found it difficult to cope with all the changes going on in my body.

    After just 2 sessions with Annebe my body started to feel more alive and I was able to do many tasks without grunting & groaning in pain.

    If I am unable to attend my Pilates class my body seems to develop the aches & pains very quickly, so I do realise that Pilates is a life-time commitment. Thank you Annebe, I'm very grateful.

    Five years ago I was afraid I might have to stop horse riding due to lower back pain. My doctor recommended Pilates and I have been with Northern Beaches Pilates every since. Just one class a week has kept me pain free, still riding and much stronger in my core which makes me a better rider.

    Annebe also did a one on one session with my daughter Helen, also a horse rider. A busy schedule makes getting to classes difficult but Annebe gave her a set of exercises which she does regularly and keeps herself strong and free of back ache.

    I live about 45-minutes' drive from Avalon. I am happy to do the drive because Annebé is a wonderful instructor. Well qualified, she keeps up to date with developments in Pilates and is attentive to individual problems. She uses music where it helps with the rhythm of the exercise. She's a great motivator and is good fun, too. The exercises and her sound advice have strengthened my muscles, improved my posture and balance, and stopped me from getting backache.

Her great knowledge of Pilates, dance and physical fitness, as well as years of experience teaching classes, combine for a complete learning experience.
